Fish eye issues are almost always related to surface contamination or solvent interaction rather than the coating itself. Even after what appears to be good prep, small amounts of silicone, wax residue, polish overspray, or airborne contaminants can cause surface tension separation.
In some cases, using a very fast solvent such as acetone during final wipe-down can create rapid cooling, which may pull moisture from the air during the transfer from gun to onto the surface and contribute to separation as well.
Because fish eye causes can vary widely including reducer choice, airline moisture, rag contamination, or substrate history it’s best that we walk through your exact process step by step.
